DAL conducts hearings regarding driving and/or driving related privileges that have been suspended by the Office of Motor Vehicles. DPS suspends driving and/or driving related privileges for multiple reasons, including:

Violation(s) of the Louisiana Tests for Suspected Drunken Drivers law. Pursuant to La. R.S. 32:667, when a person is arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and refuses to submit to an approved chemical test for intoxication, or submits to the test and the results show a blood alcohol level of 0.08 percent or above by weight or, 0.02 percent or above by weight if the person is under the age of 21, then the arresting officer shall seize the person's driver's license. A person whose license is seized has 30 days from the date of arrest to make a written request to DPS for an administrative hearing to be held at DAL. The request for hearing must be sent to: Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, Driver Management Division, P.O. Box 64886, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70896. The hearing at DAL is for the purpose of determining the validity of DPS's suspension of the arrested person's driving privileges, not for the purpose of obtaining a hardship license.

DAL conducts hearings regarding fines, penalties, and revocation of licenses by the Louisiana State Police (LSP). LSP officers are authorized to assess fines, penalties, issue warnings and revoke licenses to operate for violations of:
The Office of State Fire Marshal is tasked with taking all steps necessary and proper to protect life and property from the hazards of fire or explosions, to ensure the safety of citizens in the constructed environment, to provide equal access to disabled individuals, and promote the efficient use of energy in commercial buildings. Pursuant to La. R.S. 40:1561 et seq., and LAC 55:V.101 et seq., the Fire Marshal is authorized to assess fines, issue penalties and warnings, and revoke institutional occupational licenses. DAL conducts hearings for those parties who request an appeal of the Fire Marshal’s orders. A request for a hearing at DAL must be made within 30 days of the notice from the Fire Marshal.
